7 Questions with Mark Slade

Today I’m pleased to present an interview with author Mark Slade. But before we get to the questions, let’s learn a little about Mark first…

me 2Mark Slade lives in Williamsburg, VA with his wife and daughter. In 2013, Horrified Press published A Six Gun and the Queen of Light. Currently working on an art book/stories with an artist. Darwin’s Mishap to be published by Sunbury Press.

And now it’s time for the questions… Welcome Mark, using ten words or less, tell me about your book.

A western-fantasy-horror set in post-civil war with harpies.

Sounds very interesting. What song would you want to play during the opening credits of your book were it made into a movie? Why?

Western Plains by Rory Gallagher. Because when I first started writing it that’s what I heard in my head.

Who would you want to direct the story of your life? Is there anyone specific you’d like to play you?

My life is too dull for a movie so the answer would be Michael Moore and I guess he would make up a political bent.

What is your writing process? Are you a planner or a pantser? Do you prefer to hand write your works or type them directly into your word processor?

Typing on laptops or computers are much easier than anything else. I don’t have a good writing schedule. Not anymore. I need to set one.

Everyone needs a schedule 🙂 What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself: something you wish you knew then that you know now?

Keep submitting. Never give up.

That’s very good advice. What are the 3 (three) books that really inspired you to become a writer?

1984, Story collections of Ray Bradbury and Richard Matheson, and 87th prescient novels by Ed McBain
